NNC 7 collaborates with RTI for family planning feature in NutriSkwela Stations

The National Nutrition Council Region VII (NNC 7) embarks on a new partnership with the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International Philippines in strengthening and improving the health and nutrition of individuals as they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on January 5, 2024, at the Department of Health Central Visayas Center of Health and Development (DOH CV CHD).

The MOU provides an agreement that both parties will collaborate in the airing of materials on Family Planning (FP) Social Behavior Change (SBC) developed by RTI with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

All three NutriSkwela Community radio stations in the region — Radyo Kahimsug (Barili, Cebu), Radyo Kaigsoonan (Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental), and Radyo Kalamposan (San Francisco, Camotes, Cebu) — will take part in the collaboration and include the information materials in their regular programming.

In attendance during the MOU signing were NNC 7’s Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission, DOH CV CHD Regional Director and RNC Chair Dr. Jaime S. Bernadas, USAID’s ReachHealth Project Chief of Party Dr. Laurentu Stan, and CPD 7’s Regional Director and RNC member Atty. Bruce N. Ragas.

NutriSkwela Community Radio Network is a strategy of the NNC to address hunger and malnutrition using radio as a channel of communication to provide correct, current, and relevant information on nutrition, health, and development in far-flung areas of the country. The collaboration with RTI aims to not only widen the dissemination of information on family planning but also provide families with a better chance to care for each member, their nutrition included. // NNC Region VII, with MIND 7
