President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued an executive order (EO) that reorganizes the inter-agency task force on zero hunger. EO No. 27, signed on May 18, 2023, modifies EO No. 101, which originally designated the Cabinet Secretary as the Chairperson of the Task Force on Zero Hunger.

The revised composition of the task force now includes the Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development as co-chair, along with the Executive Director of the National Nutrition Council, and the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture as the vice-chair. Other members of the task force include various department secretaries, the Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, and a representative from the Office of the President.

The executive order emphasizes that all provisions of EO No. 101, unless expressly modified, remain in effect. Additionally, any orders, rules, regulations, or issuances inconsistent with the new EO are repealed or modified accordingly.

The Task Force on Zero Hunger was originally established through EO No. 101 in January 2020 by then-President Rodrigo Duterte. Its purpose is to ensure coordination, responsiveness, and effectiveness in government policies, initiatives, and projects aimed at achieving zero hunger.//MIND 7
