#NutriNews: Breastfeeding campaign relaunched in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu

According to a news report in  The Freeman written by Senior Reporter and MIND 7 President Ms. Mitchelle Palaubsanon, the City Nutrition Committee (CNC) of Lapu-Lapu relaunched its breastfeeding campaign by establishing lactation stations in private institutions, barangay health centers, and public places throughout the city.

They have also established a monitoring mechanism for these stations. Lapu-Lapu City also campaigned for and monitored the establishment of lactation stations in big companies, hotels, and barangay health centers.

The city's fully equipped lactation station was introduced to the regional nutrition evaluation team (RNET) members during the 2023 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro. These efforts were taken in support of the city's adoption of the "Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act" and the "Milk Code".

The National Nutrition Council (NNC)-7 recommends breast milk over formula milk because it provides the right balance of nutrients, has many disease-fighting factors, is better absorbed and used by babies, and helps protect against common childhood illnesses.//MIND 7, with Ms. Mitchelle Palaubsanon, MIND 7 President
