The National Nutrition Council Region VII conducted a three-day crash course training on the Nutrition Program Management for new human resources for health for nutrition (HRH-Ns) who will be deployed to various municipalities in Cebu and Bohol in March 2023.
The training included an overview of the nutrition program and basic nutrition program management skills, such as drafting local nutrition action plans and integrating them into local governance and development systems.
The course aimed to guide the newly hired nutritionist-dietitians (NDs) in managing the nutrition program in their assigned areas. These NDs will be deployed to priority municipalities in the region based on the stunting rates of the LGU, local nutrition committee and cluster functionality report, and priority areas of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Program.
The NDs received tips and advice on effectively advocating for nutrition programs and are now ready to mobilize LGUs for the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition. The Department of Health deploys the NDs under the National Health Workforce Support System to help local government units in catalyzing and scaling up their local nutrition programs.
The training concluded with administrative instructions and initial planning for their deployment.//MIND 7, with NO III (PMNP) Norre Jean V. delos Santos and ND II Franz Cassandra R. Ontina, RND of NNC Region VII
